Why build with Greenhus?
Greenhus 'closed' panel construction v Conventional 'open' timber frame:
Greenhus closed panel buildings have three main advantages over an open panel timber frame:
- Future building performance. The U-values of a Greenhus building structure, which will dictate it's performance are guaranteed. This is because most of the critical construction processes are carried out in a controlled factory environment, such as air tightness membranes, insulation, windows and weather proofing. With an 'open' panel timber frame all these processes will be carried out by yourself and the trades people you employ. If you choose to build a conventional timber frame, you will need to be very confident in your knowledge and the ability of your tradesmen to ensure everything is done correctly.
- Weather. Irish weather can be very unsympathetic to building projects. It is essential that a timber structure stays dry at all times. This is often not possible with an open Timber frame as it takes time on site to make the structure weather tight. With the Greenhus closed panel system, the structure is properly weather tight within days, which ensures the building is not damaged.
- Speed and ease. Because Greenhus buildings are prefabricated the onsite building time is dramatically reduced. This makes for an easier 'stress free' project for the customer.
Ecology:
- Timber is a totally renewable resource and has a zero carbon footprint.
- Chemical free: We use untreated slow grown Swedish timber to minimise the amount of chemicals used.
We avoid using any materials and processes with harmful chemicals in the rest of the house and throughout construction.
- Life span: Because of the quality products used and the care in construction our houses not only perform well but have a guaranteed long life span and need minimal external maintenance, which contributes to the ecological principals of reduced consumption.
- Wastage: There is up to 70% less wastage in our building process than in a conventional build.
Most of the products used in our houses are fully recyclable, so you can be confident in the knowledge that your house will do little damage to the environment at the end of its life.
Low Energy:
- Energy loss: Rather than focusing on how to bring heat into your home Greenhus works with practical and effective ways of reducing the heat loss in your home to almost zero. These include large amounts of insulation, airtightness and minimal cold bridging.
All these systems for reducing heat loss only work if there is thorough attention to detail in the construction of the building, with a Greenhus building this is maintained at every stage.
- Energy efficiency: Due to the minimal heat loss methods used and with consideration put into the size and orientation of your house your heating requirements can be reduced by up to 90%, compared to a conventional build.
Healthy living enviroment:
- Air quality. Due to the airtightness and a high efficency heat recovery ventilation system, the humidity and carbon dioxide levels in a Greenhus building are maintained at correct levels at all times.
This results in no condensation, no risk of mould growth and no feeling of 'stuffiness' inside the building.
- Healthy house. The minimal use of harmful chemicals throughout our Greenhus buildings, results in a living environment that not only feels healthy but is genuinely healthy.
